We build AI systems that work for tribal governments. By designing sovereign technology architectures, we ensure that tribal data remains secure, protected, and entirely under tribal jurisdiction. Our work is grounded in the principle that sovereignty is the starting point, not an afterthought.
Bridging the gap
Born from the necessity of sovereign data practices, Edge.Root Collective was established to bridge the gap between cutting-edge artificial intelligence and traditional ways of knowing. We recognized that the off-the-shelf AI tools often conflicted with tribal data sovereignty principles, extracting knowledge without reciprocity.
Operating out of Oregon as a 100% Indigenous-led 501(c)(3) non-profit, we act as a multi-tribal collective model. This structure allows us to pool resources and build shared infrastructure that benefits many nations while respecting the unique boundaries of each. We believe that "we" means the nations we serve—the collective is the structure, not the brand.
